Helpful Hint: Should you have a wedding guest book attendant?
You've selected your bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and ring bearer but did you select a wedding guest book attendant? In selecting your wedding guest book attendant you want to select someone who is personable and will greet your guests at either the wedding reception or ceremony and who will be responsible and keep track of the guest book and pen so it doesn't get lost or get accidentally picked up by anyone. It's obviously a job that requires some extra effort at your wedding so don't forget about them when your buying gifts for your bridal party. It doesn't have to be anything big, just make it a gift that shows a token of your appreciation.
Additional duties of your guest book attendant:
- Accept any gift brought to both the ceremony and reception site and make sure that they are stored in a secure location.
- If you plan to use money card box be sure to locate the box close the guest book signing table so that the attendant can keep an eye on it and assist your guests with the location of the money box.
- If you're using place cards for your wedding reception the attendant can assist your guest in finding their place cards.
- Meet with your attendant in advance and instruct them on who the "really important" people (parents of the bride and groom, bridal party, etc) are your wedding so that they can sure they sign the guest book.
- Assist the maid of honor or designated person in collecting your keepsakes at the wedding reception. Make sure you give the attendant a list of the items so that nothing is left behind. Items to consider on the list are menu cards, wedding favors, cake topper, toasting flutes, cake server set, programs, etc.
